PROFESSIONAL MASTER’S PROGRAM IN ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

The Graduate Program in Environmental Science and Technology (PPGCTA) at UERJ- ZO is a professional master’s program focused on training qualified professionals to work in scientific, technological, and innovation research in the field of Environmental Sciences. The program aims to meet the demands of government agencies and the productive sector by fostering the development and application of new methodologies, procedures, and technologies within their socio-economic context. Additionally, it promotes the development of strategies for the sustainable use of natural resources and waste management.

With an interdisciplinary approach that integrates humanistic and socio-environmental aspects, PPGCTA also seeks to promote the training of highly competent professionals. It prepares experts capable of responding to the needs of industry and society, always guided by continuous learning and technological innovation. The program also trains educators and new researchers to work in environmental sciences and technologies, ensuring a comprehensive and forward-thinking perspective.

To promote sustainable development through innovative education, integrating science and society.

Objectives

  • Develop and apply scientific knowledge in the environmental field;
  • Qualify higher education professionals with technical, creative, and transformative expertise to work in research, environmental education, and the development and innovation of tools, products, and technologies for environmental monitoring and sanitation.

Program Duration

The Professional Master’s program lasts a minimum of 12 months and a maximum of 24 months, with the possibility of a leave of absence for up to 12 months, according to the academic calendar.

Target Audience

The program is open to graduates from any field of knowledge, provided their diploma
is recognized, validated, or revalidated by the Ministry of Education (MEC). Candidates
who have not yet completed their undergraduate degree may apply for the selection
process but must present their diploma or proof of course completion at the time of
enrollment if accepted.

Admission Process and Available Seats

The selection process offers 30 spots, distributed as follows:
  • 20 spots for general applicants;
  • 10 spots reserved for candidates applying through the affirmative action system.
